CVE-2026-62819
Windows Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
Description
Remote Code Execution in Windows Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) allows attacker to gain an unauthorized access to victim's machine
In plain language
AI Act nowCVE-2026-62819 is a Windows bug that could let an attacker take control of your computer through the Windows RRAS (Routing and Remote Access Service); even if you don’t use it, you should check whether RRAS is installed or reachable and patch Windows to the listed fixed versions.
CVE-2026-62819 is a Windows Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) Remote Code Execution (CWE-416) issue where a remote attacker can trigger the weakness over the network to run code on the affected host; patching is required regardless of whether public exploits are available.
What to do now
- Check which Windows edition/build you run (Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2012/2012 R2/2016/2019/2022/2025) and confirm whether RRAS is installed and/or exposed to users or the internet.
- Update Windows immediately to at least the fixed version for your specific release:
- Windows 10: 10.0.14393.9418 (one branch), 10.0.17763.9115, 10.0.19044.7663, or 10.0.19045.7663
- Windows 11: 10.0.22631.7517, 10.0.26100.9106, 10.0.26200.9106, or 10.0.28000.2704
- Windows Server 2016: 10.0.14393.9418
- Windows Server 2019: 10.0.17763.9115
- Windows Server 2022: 10.0.20348.5440
- Windows Server 2025: 10.0.26100.33222
- If you cannot patch right away, reduce exposure first: disable RRAS (or the RRAS role) if it isn’t needed, and restrict network access so RRAS is reachable only from approved internal systems/VPN management paths.
- After patching, verify Windows reports the updated build number and review network/security logs for RRAS-related connection attempts around the time of the update.
