Published: Aug 11, 2026Updated: Aug 16, 2026 Sources: CVE List NVDCWE-125

Description

Integer underflow (wrap or wraparound) in Windows DHCP Server allows an unauthorized attacker to disclose information over an adjacent network.

In plain language

AI Act now

If you run Windows DHCP Server on your local network, someone nearby on the same network could trigger a flaw to view private system information from that server, without logging in. Fix it because this is a real patch, and patching is the main way to reduce risk.

Executive summary

Windows DHCP Server has an information disclosure flaw caused by an integer handling weakness (underflow/wraparound) that allows an unauthenticated attacker on an adjacent local network segment to elicit an error path and exfiltrate sensitive system details without user interaction.

What to do now

  1. Check whether your business uses Windows DHCP Server on windows 10, windows server 2012, windows server 2016, windows server 2019, windows server 2022, windows server 2025, or windows server 2012 r2 (and confirm the DHCP Server role/service is running on those machines).
  2. If affected, plan an update to the fixed versions for your Windows release:
    • windows 10: 10.0.14393.9418 or 10.0.17763.9115 (and/or 10.0.17763.9121)
    • windows server 2012: 6.2.9200.26280
    • windows server 2012 r2: 6.3.9600.23338
    • windows server 2016: 10.0.14393.9418
    • windows server 2019: 10.0.17763.9115 or 10.0.17763.9121
    • windows server 2022: 10.0.20348.5440 or 10.0.20348.5499
    • windows server 2025: 10.0.26100.33222 or 10.0.26100.33296
  3. Validate after patching that the server’s Windows build/version matches one of the fixed versions above and restart/confirm DHCP Server service health per your normal maintenance procedure.
