CVE-2026-50515
Azure Service Bus Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
Description
Deserialization of untrusted data in Azure Service Bus allows an authorized attacker to execute code over a network.
In plain language
AI Act nowCVE-2026-50515 is a remote code execution flaw in Azure Service Bus that can let a malicious actor run code through specially crafted messages; small businesses should worry mainly if someone outside your trusted team can send or influence Service Bus messages to you, and you should apply Microsoft’s fix from the update guide as soon as possible.
CVE-2026-50515 is a deserialization-of-untrusted-data weakness (CWE-502) in Azure Service Bus that can allow a low-privileged/authorized attacker to trigger remote code execution by sending crafted message content that gets deserialized on the service side.
What to do now
- Check whether your environment uses Azure Service Bus and whether any third parties, contractors, or external systems can publish/submit messages you process (directly or indirectly).
- Open the Microsoft update guide for CVE-2026-50515 and plan to update/rotate your Azure Service Bus configuration to the state Microsoft specifies there.
- Restrict who can send messages to the relevant Service Bus namespaces/queues/topics (use least-privilege permissions and tighten access policies).
- Review application code paths that consume Azure Service Bus messages to ensure they don’t accept or process attacker-controlled content in unsafe ways (e.g., disable/avoid unsafe serializers if applicable).
- Monitor for unusual message patterns from unexpected sources and log anomalies around message processing after the change window.
