Steps

Written by AI from the record
  1. Check which version of DataEase you are running — anything before 2.10.12 is vulnerable.
  2. If you manage this yourself, upgrade DataEase to version 2.10.12 or later as soon as possible.
  3. If a vendor or IT provider hosts DataEase for you, ask them directly whether your instance has been patched.
  4. Restrict network access to your DataEase instance (e.g., firewall, VPN-only access) until the upgrade is confirmed.
  5. After upgrading, review DataEase logs for unusual database connection attempts made before the patch.

What it is

From the CVE record

DataEase is an open source business intelligence and data visualization tool. Prior to version 2.10.12, there is a H2 JDBC RCE bypass in DataEase. If the JDBC URL meets criteria, the getJdbcUrl method is returned, which acts as the getter for the JdbcUrl parameter provided. This bypasses H2's filtering logic and returns the H2 JDBC URL, allowing the "driver":"org.h2.Driver" to specify the H2 driver for the JDBC connection. The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.10.12.

In plain language

Written by AI from the record

A serious flaw in the DataEase data-visualization tool lets an outside attacker take full control of your server without needing a password, so if you run DataEase you should update it now, but there's no sign yet that attackers are actively using it.

DataEase prior to 2.10.12 contains an unauthenticated remote code execution flaw (CWE-94) where the getJdbcUrl method fails to properly re-validate attacker-supplied JDBC connection strings, allowing the H2 driver to be smuggled past filtering logic and used to execute arbitrary code.

If you're affected

  • Full server takeover
  • Exposure of all connected databases
  • Data theft or manipulation
  • Operational disruption
