What to do now

  1. Check whether you run VMware vCenter Server or VMware Cloud Foundation (including any vCenter-connected components) and identify the exact installed version and patch level.
  2. Verify whether vCenter Server is reachable from untrusted networks (for example, the public internet, partner networks, or any network segment not strictly controlled).
  3. If you are on an affected version, upgrade to the vendor’s fixed versions: VMware Cloud Foundation → 5.2; VMware vCenter Server → 8.0 U2d or 8.0 U1e or 7.0 U3r.
  4. If you cannot upgrade immediately, follow Broadcom/VMware’s mitigation guidance linked in their security advisory and restrict network access to vCenter as a temporary containment measure until patching is complete.
