CVE-2007-3010
Description
masterCGI in the Unified Maintenance Tool in Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise Communication Server R7.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in the user parameter during a ping action.
In plain language
AI Act nowIf you run an Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise Communication Server R7.1 or older, attackers can trigger it to run arbitrary system commands over the network without any login—this is a serious, patch-now issue.
CVE-2007-3010 is an unauthenticated remote command execution weakness (“masterCGI” in the Unified Maintenance Tool) where specially crafted network requests inject shell metacharacters through a user parameter during a ping action.
What to do now
- Check whether your Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise Communication Server is running R7.1 or earlier and whether the Unified Maintenance Tool (“masterCGI”) is exposed to the network (especially the internet).
- If it is exposed and/or you can confirm the version is R7.1 or earlier, plan an immediate upgrade to the vendor-fixed release (apply vendor updates per instructions for CVE-2007-3010).
- After updating, verify the specific maintenance/ping feature used by the vulnerable tool is no longer reachable from untrusted networks, and document the change.
- If you cannot upgrade right away, restrict access so that the vulnerable tool is only reachable from trusted internal networks (or disable that maintenance endpoint if the vendor allows).
