Steps

Written by AI from the record
  1. Check which version of Rejetto HFS you are running — anything from 3.0.0 up to 3.2.0 is affected.
  2. If affected, take the HFS admin interface offline from the internet until you can patch.
  3. Upgrade to HFS version 3.2.1 or later, which removes the predictable key generation.
  4. After upgrading, restart the server so a new signing key is generated, then revoke any existing sessions.
  5. Review server access logs for unexpected admin logins or file/config changes since the software was first deployed.

What it is

From the CVE record

Rejetto HFS 3.0.0 through 3.2.0 derives its session-cookie signing key from the non-cryptographic Math.random() generator and discloses outputs of the same generator to unauthenticated clients during login. A remote attacker can collect a small number of login responses, reconstruct the generator's state, recover the signing key, and forge a valid administrator session cookie, leading to full administrative access and remote code execution via the server_code configuration feature.

In plain language

Written by AI from the record

A serious flaw in the Rejetto HFS file-server software lets an outside attacker forge an administrator login and take full control of the server, so if you run this software you should treat it as urgent even though no live attacks have been spotted yet.

HFS versions 3.0.0–3.2.0 generate session-signing keys with the predictable Math.random() generator and leak generator output to unauthenticated clients during login, letting an attacker reconstruct the key, forge an admin session cookie, and achieve remote code execution via the server_code feature.
