What it is
From the CVE record
In Wing FTP Server before 7.4.4. the user and admin web interfaces mishandle '\0' bytes, ultimately allowing injection of arbitrary Lua code into user session files. This can be used to execute arbitrary system commands with the privileges of the FTP service (root or SYSTEM by default). This is thus a remote code execution vulnerability that guarantees a total server compromise. This is also exploitable via anonymous FTP accounts.
In plain language
Written by AI from the recordCVE-2025-47812 is a severe remote security hole in Wing FTP Server that lets an outside attacker run code on your server without logging in; if you use Wing FTP Server and it’s not updated to 7.4.4, you should treat this as an urgent fix.
In Wing FTP Server before 7.4.4, the user and admin web interfaces mishandle '\0' bytes, allowing injection of arbitrary Lua code into user session files, which can execute arbitrary system commands with the privileges of the FTP service (typically root or SYSTEM). This is remotely reachable without authentication and is listed in CISA KEV with a remediation deadline of 2025-08-04.
