CVE-2025-12352

Gravity Forms <= 2.9.20 - Unauthenticated Arbitrary File Upload via 'copy_post_image'

Published: Nov 7, 2025Updated: Nov 12, 2025 Sources: CVE List NVDCWE-434

Description

The Gravity Forms plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads due to missing file type validation in the copy_post_image() function in all versions up to, and including, 2.9.20. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server which may make remote code execution possible. This only impacts sites that have allow_url_fopen set to `On`, the post creation form enabled along with a file upload field for the post

AI Act now

Gravity Forms (up to 2.9.20) lets an attacker upload files to your WordPress server without logging in, which can be a serious problem if your site has the required post-creation file upload setup—this is urgent for affected sites.

Executive summary

In Gravity Forms <= 2.9.20, missing file type validation in copy_post_image() enables unauthenticated arbitrary file upload over the network; with allow_url_fopen enabled and a post-creation form that includes a file upload field, this can lead to server compromise.

What to do now

  1. Check your WordPress site for the installed Gravity Forms version (confirm whether it is 2.9.20 or earlier).
  2. Check whether “post creation” is enabled in Gravity Forms and that the relevant form includes a file upload field.
  3. Check your PHP setting allow_url_fopen; if it is “On”, your risk is higher for this issue.
  4. If all of the above are true, disable the affected Gravity Forms post creation/file-upload capability immediately (temporarily remove the file upload field and/or disable post creation).
  5. Contact your Gravity Forms/WordPress vendor or IT team to obtain an official fix for CVE-2025-12352; this report does not include a known fixed version you can upgrade to right now.
  6. If you cannot quickly remediate, restrict access to the affected upload functionality (e.g., network/WAF rules or access controls) until the plugin can be fixed.
