Google has released updates for Chrome that resolve twelve vulnerabilities, including the actively exploited zero-day CVE-2026-85046. This high-severity defect in the V8 engine involves a type confusion error within the compiler, allowing attackers to achieve arbitrary code execution on desktop systems through specially crafted web pages.
This incident marks the sixth actively exploited zero-day patched in Chrome since the start of 2026. The security advisory confirms that exploitation is already occurring in the wild. Users should upgrade to version 152.0.7977.82 or .83 immediately, with Chromium-based browsers like Microsoft Edge and Brave expected to follow suit.
