CVE Tools

Security news, trend reports and sector intel arrive

Hey there ๐Ÿ‘‹ It's been a big week. cve.tools grew two whole new public sections โ€” a security news feed and monthly trend reports โ€” and the database itself got smarter about who is affected, not just what. Here's everything waiting for you, no login required for most of it.

โœจ What's new for you

  • Security news, right next to the CVEs it talks about. The new /news feed surfaces press coverage of active vulnerabilities โ€” each story links straight to the CVEs it mentions, with severity and KEV badges, and hovering an inline CVE reference shows you the details without leaving the article. And it works the other way too: open any CVE page and you'll see what the world is saying about it at the bottom.
  • Monthly and weekly trend reports. /trends now publishes immutable snapshot reports: vulnerability volume, severity composition, top vendors with rank movement, CWE rankings, and time-to-exploit velocity. Every report and every vendor gets a shareable permalink โ€” cite away. The methodology page explains exactly how each number is computed.
  • Sector intelligence across the whole site. Browse /sectors to see how vulnerabilities distribute across 15 solution sectors โ€” each hub shows its weakness fingerprint and top vendors. Vendor pages grew risk summaries with cumulative KEV and exploit stats. And every CVE card now shows sector chips and vendor context (type, country, aliases) for affected products, so you can tell at a glance whether a finding touches your world.
  • Filter search by sector. The CVE search sidebar gained Sector, Subsector and Deployment filters โ€” narrow 300k+ records down to "networking infrastructure, on-prem" in two clicks.
  • A complimentary external exposure review. We've opened /scan: request a free review of your internet-facing attack surface, done by humans with the cve.tools dataset behind them. Domain and email is all it takes.

๐Ÿ›  Smoother now

  • All public pages โ€” landing, news, trends โ€” share one sticky header now, so the site finally feels like one site. Navigation between sections is a single click.
  • Public pages are cached server-side: CVE pages, news and trends load noticeably faster on repeat visits.
  • Trend reports got a print view โ€” add ?print=1 to any report (or hit the Print view button) for a clean, paper-friendly layout with readable colors. Ctrl+P and it's a handout.

๐Ÿž Squashed

  • Fixed the thing where users with a light OS theme saw white blocks and unreadable headings on CVE pages and the dashboard โ€” the app now stays consistently dark regardless of your system theme.

Give it a spin

Start at /news to catch up on the week, wander into /trends for the big picture, then open any CVE you care about โ€” the new sector chips and news mentions are right on the card. And if you want a second pair of eyes on your external perimeter, /scan is open.

We'd love your take
